ISU Ilagan holds Farmers Forum

In line with the conduct of 1 st International Conference and Exhibition on Technologies,
Governance and Partnership for Climate Change Adaptation (CCA) and Disaster Risk Reduction
Management (DRRM), ISU-Ilagan Campus spearheaded the Farmers Forum last October 24,
2018 held at FLDy Coliseum, Cauayan City.

The said forum was graced by Congressman Rodito T. Albano III of the first district of
Isabela, plenary speakers, farmers from various municipalities and students.

Dr. Claris M. Alaska, Climate Change Focal Person discussed the Farmer Decision
Support System in Crops and Livestock, Mr. Nemencio J. Concepcion talked on Integrated
Climate Resilient Farming System, Mr. Matt Ezekiel S. Abella talked about ICT Apps in
Agriculture, Mr. Cenon M. Aquino provided insights about Landscape Vulnerability GAP on
Soil Management, Engr. Mark Gil S. Hizon shared knowledge on Carrageenan Technology,
Engr. Ramon J. Oliveros Jr. presented Climate Resilient Agriculture in Organic Farming and
Mr. Arnel R. Santiago explained Climate resilient in Tilapia Breeding.

Lectures provided by the speakers focused on climate change adaptation strategies
that could be applied by farmers to improve crop productivity and resource efficiency. At the
end of each lecture, the participants had a chance to ask questions of the speakers to clarify
issues discussed and to get additional information.

Marcelo G. Miguel, Provincial Director of DOST Isabela gave his closing remarks to
formally end the one-day activity.

The one-day forum was spearheaded by the Dr. Junel B. Soriano along with Dr. Lalaine
Nerona, RDET Director of ISU Ilagan and her staff.
